Bailey-Howard Funeral Home, located in Clyde, Texas, has roots in the community spanning more than a century and a long-standing tradition of serving generations of families throughout Clyde and the surrounding area. After acquiring the business in 2010, Monty and Debbie Howard continued that tradition, becoming a trusted part of the community through its commitment to personal service and compassionate care. As Bailey-Howard begins this new chapter with Legacy Funeral Group, Christy Barron will continue as Location Manager, with Bryan Hicks serving as Area Manager and Kevin Combest as Regional Director. We are pleased to have Christy, and the Bailey-Howard staff join Legacy and look forward to supporting the team as they continue the longstanding tradition of caring for families and serving the Clyde community. Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home was established in New Braunfels, Texas in 1923 by Oscar and Emmie Doeppenschmidt. In 1952, their son, Bennie, and his wife, Ruth, took over operation of the funeral home. In 1970, Carl Doeppenschmidt joined the business and in 1988, added the Canyon Lake funeral home to the Doeppenschmidt family. Michele Doeppenschmidt later joined the family business and together with her father, Carl, continued to provide the Doeppenschmidt funeral service tradition to the New Braunfels and Canyon Lake communities. Through four generations of family ownership and operation, Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home has remained dedicated to the compassionate care established more than a century ago. Legacy Funeral Group is honored to be entrusted in carrying on that dedication and will do so with Joel Evans as Funeral Director in Charge along with the Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home staff. Together they will continue serving families throughout the Central Texas area, with Ryan Stephens serving as Regional Director. Founded by Eric and Candice Shafer, Shafer Mortuary Services has built a reputation for providing compassionate, affordable funeral and cremation services while remaining deeply committed to the families and community they serve. This acquisition is especially significant as it marks Legacy’s first mortuary service and pet crematory. Shafer Mortuary Services supports other funeral homes by providing local transportation, preparation, embalming, cremation, and other essential mortuary services throughout West Texas. Furrever Pet Crematory is an extension of Shafer Mortuary Services that brings care, guidance, and helpful support to families who are experiencing the loss of a beloved pet. We are honored to welcome the Shafer team along with Anthony Shafer to the Legacy Family. Anthony is the son of Eric and Candance Shafer who will remain in the business and further his education in the funeral profession.
