About

Our Story

In 1998, Michael Soper founded Legacy Funeral Group with a vision to support smaller funeral homes facing financial, operational, and managerial challenges. Drawing on his extensive experience in the funeral home industry, Soper recognized the demand for a solution offering the structure and expertise needed for small businesses to thrive while retaining the personal, family-oriented care that customers know and love.

With these core values, Legacy has become one of the most trusted names in the death care industry and one of its fastest-growing companies. Today, Legacy provides compassionate, professional support to funeral homes nationwide, helping their businesses excel while ensuring they remain deeply connected to the communities they serve.

We Make it Personal.®

At Legacy, we believe that every family deserves more than just a service-they deserve a reflection of their loved one's unique life. Our tagline, "We Make It Personal," stems from our deep passion for providing individualized care with a personal touch. We understand how much you treasure the memories of your dearly departed, and we work closely with our dedicated team to ensure these are at the heart of our services. From thoughtful planning to compassionate support, we aim to create an experience that feels like family-caring for you with the same attention and respect we would give our own. This commitment to personalizing every detail allows us to help you say goodbye in a way that truly reflects the life and legacy of your loved one.

Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home

Mr. Shirley Fields spent his life protecting and serving others as a Marine Corps veteran and Captain in the Tuscaloosa County Homicide Unit. To honor his life and service, Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home arranged a horse-drawn funeral carriage and a helicopter flyover as he was laid to rest, with a full police honor guard awaiting his arrival. Even his loyal dog Charlie, dressed in a suit, was there to honor him at the graveside. It was a meaningful tribute to a life dedicated to serving others.

Davis Funeral Home Rainbow Chapel

Hydeia Broadbent was known from a young age as one of the first American child HIV/AIDS activists, sharing her courage and raising awareness around the world. Davis Funeral Home Rainbow had the honor of celebrating her life in a way that reflected the things she loved, including Chinese food, the beach, and earth tones that reminded her of the beauty the world could bring. An earth-tone backdrop with fairy lights surrounded her casket, Chinese takeout boxes were created with fortune cookies, prayer cards, red ribbon keychains, and chopsticks, and a beach-themed area was set up to reflect her favorite place. It was a beautiful tribute to a life that inspired so many.
